"Where Boys Are Boys and Female Impersonation is an Art"

Any Volunteers?

As the Miss Gay America 2015 direct preliminary pageant season is about to commence, we always like to remind the contestants, during the on-set of the pageant season, that they are volunteering to be hired for a job. And with that job comes the same as with any other job, which is reward, sacrifice, commitment and dedication.

Reward to be hired for the job by the Judges and to be part of something much larger than one's ego.

Sacrifice because most things worth having are worth working towards. There are many things that one must consider to be less of a priority while in the role of Miss Gay America. Granted there are many things to juggle but the reign of Miss Gay America should take precedent over many other things.

Commitment to the art form. Granted, becoming Miss Gay America is overwhelming. In fact there is no Miss Gay America who has reigned in the L & T Entertainment administration that hasn't said that the job of Miss Gay America is much more detailed than they imaged. One must be committed to the cause in order to realize a successful year. Believing in and becoming the very thing that you expect a Miss Gay America to be, is critical in order to have a successful reign.

Dedication to the legacy of those who reigned before. Dedication  to the efforts of those who are participating in this incredible legacy that we call Miss Gay America. Dedication to wanting the current pageant season to be better than before so that the system will continue to be something for which we can all have pride in.

So as we near the beginning of the official Miss Gay America 2016 pageant season, we question whether or not many know exactly what they are volunteering for. We have always said that when you enter a preliminary to the Miss Gay America pageant, you are volunteering for a job. Anyone who enters could be the next Miss Gay America. From the first time city preliminary contestant to the veteran regional contestant, the opportunity is the same. It's simply that more often than not, the veteran contestants is more prepared and schooled on the pageant system and likewise generally scores higher.

So we ask each contestant to consider the job. Read the rules and regulations, the Job Description and any other article or publication. Then ask oneself if they are ready to volunteer for one of the most rewarding years of your life.

We look forward to the upcoming pageant season! Miss Gay America 2015 Blair Williams is ready. Blair is already proving to be an exceptional administrator. Her growth since being crowned is already amazing and we are so looking forward to watching her shine!

Until next time...

Until next time,
Larry and Terry
