June 2009 Edition Of
"The Excellence"
Victoria's Voice
Hello All,
Well this is the time of
year where pageants are in full swing and contestants are eagerly awaiting
victory. It is such a pleasure to be able to sit back and watch others reach for
their dreams. For so long I was one preparing for competition and focused on my
pageant package- not being able to sit back and watch other preparations. Now
being on the other side, it is so rewarding to watch all the effort and heart
put forth from all the contestants with the same common goal/dream of becoming
Miss Gay America. It is very touching to see the dedication many people have for
this great system and the support is endless. One thing that is so special to me
about being Miss Gay America is the bonding between all people, whether you are
a former MGA, promoter, spectator, or contestant. The friendships are what count
and the memories made will always remain dear to my heart!
It seems each month that
passes goes by even quicker than the last. It is hard to believe that I’m
writing another letter but at the same time I feel as if I have so much to say
but not enough time. This has truly been a blessing for me and yes being Miss
Gay America is everything I ever thought it would be and more…it was well
worth the wait! I feel to make your dreams come true you must have the
persistence to make it reality. I can't express this enough!
During my travels I was
honored to be back in
Omaha
,
NE
for the Miss Gay Heart of
America
pageant (as a former, of course) but this time MGA! Mike and Rodney have a
special quality about them… they are so welcoming to everyone and they bring
out the best in people… As I mentioned before, bonding has been such a
magnificent part of being MGA. It was like a family reunion and all of the
in-laws were even there having a gay ole time. Sasha Nicole, Chantel Reshae,
Tumara Mahorning, Charity Case, Rachel Erikks and Jade Sinclair… we all
enjoyed the time spent together as we prepared to welcome our new sister to the
family. The pageant was split up into two nights; the first one was for the
review show. It was so enjoyable to just hang out with the girls and do what we
do best, which is "perform". I might add that The Max is such a
beautiful venue. Thank you, the owners and staff of The Max for your efforts of
excellence.
So, now it’s time for the
festivities to start. Sunday rang in the competition with five lovely
contestants. Coco Montrese, Sasha Leigh Chambers, Anastasia Beverhausen, Karen
Thomas and Fanta Cee were ready to capture their dreams. Their effort was
beautiful and they all made me very proud. I enjoyed sitting back and watching
them excel in the competition. Each of them did an outstanding job.
Congratulations to Coco Montrese (Webster) MGHOA 2009 and first alternate Sasha
Leigh Chambers, who are both on their way to MGA. I would like to thank the
judges for being on point and giving up your time to support the pageant system.
The pageant was a success and well put together. Thank you Mike and Rodney, for
your organization and love for the system-you are truly two of the best
promoters a contestant could ask for. Keep up the good work and special thanks
for my beautiful award!
So next I’m back at my new
home (the airport) on my way to my first experience of the Miss Gay US of A
pageant. I was very nervous because I did not know what to expect. I arrived in
Dallas
and immediately ran to my room to change so I could see the last night of the
preliminary competition. Boy, the girls were not playing! It was a blast to
watch in the company of my OK family, Catia, Tabitha Taylor, Samantha West,
Miki, William (lol), Aunt Tillie, Stephen (Pure Chocolate) Robby, Tracy and
Kelly. They all were so much fun to share this experience with. At final night I
got to walk the runway as Miss Gay America 2009 and it was a moment I will never
forget. Thank you Jerry Bird and the staff of the
US
of A pageant system for being so kind. I truly enjoyed the pageant and
congratulations to Stasha Sanchez- Miss Gay US of A 2009.
I’m back at the airport on my way home only to find myself leaving again the
next morning to
Springfield
IL
. It's show-time at The Station House starring the one and only Mahogany Knight.
She has to be one of the nicest gals I have ever met. Everything was so nice
from the hotel to the show. The peeps packed in to get their fix of female
impersonation. Thank you for having me it was a blast getting to know all of
you. I hope you will have me again soon!
Next I am off to some exciting places that I will let you in on in my next
letter! I hope that you enjoy your time in the MGA system. Take it all in,
prepare and pay close attention to detail! Things always pan out in the end. If
they don't, just remember you always have a friend!
Until Next Time,
Victoria DePaula MGA 2009

Excellence Is Not Just A Motto…
We
hope that this finds each of you doing well and getting ready for a great
summer. With the month of June comes many Pride celebrations throughout the
country, so we wish you and yours a very happy Pride celebration.
We recently had the opportunity to attend the Miss Heart of
America
contest in
Omaha
. NE whereby there was a former Miss Heart of America Review Show, prior to the
pageant. To say the least the show was incredible, the make-up, hair, costumes
performances and professionalism of the entertainers was exceptional, and left
Omaha
knowing why the Miss Gay America system titleholders are called “Symbols of
Excellence”. Some of the comments
we heard was, “we have never seen such a group of professional
entertainers”, “the show was very entertaining and one could clearly see the
attention to detail that each of the entertainers insert into their
character”, “WOW, I have always heard about the Miss Gay America pageant
system, but getting to experience it in person, is incredible”, “I can see
why some of the titleholders have won Miss Gay America and I will not be
surprised if other Heart of America titleholders move forward to win the title
of Miss Gay America”, “the pleasant attitude of the these entertainers
certainly compliments their talent”… and this was just a few of the comments
that we heard…
We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the former Heart of America girls that
were in attendance, who did a spectacular job and the Miss Heart of America
Review Show (in mid May 2009 in Omaha)…They are: Charity Case, Rachael Erikks,
Victoria DePaula, Tumara Mahorning, Chantel Reshae,
Sasha Nicole and Jade
Sinclair. It was a pleasure to watch
the show and we are very proud to own and manage the pageant system for which
these entertainers have dedicated so many years of perfecting their craft…
Congratulations to Cocktail Entertainment for providing a venue for which these
girls can show
Omaha
why they are apart of such Excellence… These entertainers clearly demonstrate
that EXCELLENCE is NOT just a motto but for them, it is a way of life…
Until
Next Time!
